The Veiled Monologues

Last year I was privileged to see a performance of “The Veiled Monologues” by a Dutch Turkish theater group. It played to a packed house in Cambridge, Massachusetts, almost all women, many Muslim or from Muslim countries. It was daring, outrageous, moving, unpredictable, subtle, and unflinchingly honest about ALL the different ways of being a Muslim woman — the joys and the problems. It was inspired by the popular theater piece, “The Vagina Monologues”. If you ever have a chance to see “The Veiled Monologues”, you must go.
