Literary Link
This blog was originally going to be a commentary about my novels, which are set in 19th century Istanbul, or rather about seeing Istanbul through the eyes of the main character in the series, Kamil Pasha. (click the page above for information about the Kamil Pasha novels.) Before long, my anthropologist/social scientist alter ego hijacked the blog and created the political junky/social commentary site you have before you.
But every once in a while, I get nostalgic and invite my literary self back as a ghostly guest blogger. Don’t be surprised to see her occasionally sneaking in with her literary allusions and portraits of the city and its inhabitants. Regrettably that has happened less and less lately as the political scene heated up — there’s too much to tell!
Today I’m adding to my blogroll an excellent blog by a literary agent (click here), which should be of interest to anyone who publishes or would like to publish books, especially fiction. There’s lots of hands-on advice on how to find an agent, and useful links. Nathan Bransford works for an eminent literary agency, Curtis Brown.
I’m also adding here my own list of useful websites for finding and approaching an agent (in the US):
